I was looking out my window the other day (this particular window looks over the farm and I can see inside and outside of the farm as well as most of the pastures), and I started thinking about and watching our wonderful riders and parents interacting here at Lachlan. Some parents were swinging and rocking on our front porch, another one was taking a nap on the bleachers, two riders were schooling in the arena, one was playing with her horse in the indoor arena, and still another was making hot cocoa and just enjoying the barn. They are from various backgrounds, all ages, home-schooled, privately and publicly schooled, owners of horses and non-owners, once a week riders and 5 times a week riders. All meeting at the barn, to share with each other the love of horses (or for the parents... the love of their kids that love horses).
I know I am a bit partial, but it is comforting to know that I can be thankful to have Josephine (my little girl) grow up with such a loving, wholesome, and kind group of girls (and parents). I talk to her a great deal (as you have to with a two year old) about kindness, because I think it is so important and lacking so many areas these days. Our families at Lachlan have kind hearts and I am grateful for them everyday. They make the 24 hour job of running a farm worthwhile.
Friendship, horsemanship, and teamwork is what the barn’s all about! A stable should be just that... a stable place to be. The same workers day in and day out, the same furry friends coming and going, the same expectations of each rider, a place to build confidence, and a constant place of encouragement in a not-so-encouraging world.
That’s where my guarantee comes into play. If you come to Lachlan to board your horse, you ride twice a week and get involved in lessons, and you do not find that we are warm and welcoming, you will get your basic board money back! (You’ll still have to pay for lessons and other services above basic board… I think that’s only fair). I feel THAT strongly that our farm is different! I firmly stand behind our environment as a fun, safe, educational, and nurturing place for your rider and horse.
